Thank you for the near 300 visits, it was fun as long as it lasted. I leave this blog up for the summer, in case I happen to get the urge to write something, and if someone still wants to read the meager texts I wrote.

Goodbye.

God damn you WP, just when I learned how to use you. : |

I never thought that I’d be so busy that I didn’t have time to update or do anything else. Lousy excuse, yes. I know. So, it’s been three weeks since I last updated. The reason for my general busyness was school, actually attending to one. Hmm. But my problem is, it takes me days to write one entry.

So, I promised a while back to post more about the papercraft-Haruhi which I’m working on. The camera which I own (Casio Exilim Zoom EX-Z5) is not so great, and uploading photos to my craptastic old computer -which is more or less like a heater- (but yet so dear Compaq Armada M700 with Ubuntu 7.04 feisty <3) is a pain in the ass. My laptop contains only one USB-port so while my camera is connected, I have to use pointing stick, which is ..well not very nice to use. (As right-handed, I’m more comfortable using it with my left hand.) Then I have to resize stuff in GIMP and add my signature to them.. I don’t like GIMP, I’ve gotten way too used to Photoshop.

And hey, if you’re interested in this model I’m working on:

Haruhi.rar (Rapidshare)

Pepakura Viewer 2.1.1 (This is pretty much a must have in order to view .pdo files.)

And if something bothers or you feel like a question coming up, just ask me! : ) If you need a specific model or something, I’ll see if I can help you out.

My cellphone is up there for size-comparison. Those parts are cut out and folded, waiting for assembling. Model is printed on 110 g/m2 printer paper. (Not on the regular 80 g/m2.)

More after the jump:

To think of it.. I’ve been papercrafting since 2005 if I remember right. I didn’t have proper glue, proper cutting blades or anything else. I used just normal scissors and masking tape to put together my first papercraft, Metal Gear Solid cardboard box! Heh, but it was really easy.

I got myself a self-healing cutting mat, good paper-glue and a segmented blade utility knife (people, it’s not a carpet knife, these are the fucking carpet knives). Some people use X-acto knives, I’ve never tested them but I can manage with my segmented knife just fine. I use scissors really rarely, I must get ruler-straight lines so I use metal ruler almost every time I cut something.

The thing I’ve realized is that there’s not a wrong way to papercraft. Whatever suits you is the best. And whatever brings the best results and satisfies you. Every papercraft-geek which I know uses different methods of crafting. I work slowly, the best thing is that there are no deadlines to beat. At best, it’s really calming activity.

Okay, so to the Haruhi.. I started working on it on February -08. I’ve only once seen a photo of her finished and of course I didn’t remember to save it. The model consists 3 pages. It’s quite simple model, actually. I mean, when compared to other Mizuirogakuen models, they can be quite complex and tricky.

This is the first picture I took when I started cutting out the first parts. This time, I didn’t start from the head because the head is the “main” part of the model. So I want to work really properly on it. There’s her neck and partly the chest and back parts..

Haruhi’s skirt.

Main part of her hair/head consists 4 pieces.

“Head” from the inside. This time it looks quite clean. : D

That bow was trickier than I thought, that’s why it looks a bit wonky. So I’m thinking about re-doing it. I have no idea what that white block is for, but I think it comes inside Haruhi’s head.

As I said, I’m working slowly. But I’ll get her finished, I promise that. Thanks for reading!

I know my blog lacks of reasonable content. I wish that each of my entries would not falls into a senseless ramble. But oh well, the main subject of this entry is about the language in which I’m posting.

I’m also trying to find a good name for my blog.

I myself am a bilingual person, I can write and speak fluent Finnish and somewhat fluent English too. (And of course some Swedish and German. And that oh-so-common Japanese.) I’m just unsure of my English skills, so if my entries are full of grammar and conjugation mistakes please let me know about them, thanks.

Just “colouring” up my blog by posting old drawings in this random entry. (Soul is also in the banner image and next to him is Perryway. Both of them are my characters.)

A little more text after the jump:

So the main problem is that should I post in Finnish or keep this blog in English? I’m planning of keeping it in English, but since this blog will never attract greater attention it could as well be fully in Finnish. But I guess thinking this is quite useless.

But one important question.. What do you want to read or see the most?

Also, a big Thank You for Tsubasa for adding my site to his blog’s (Otakunvirka) blogroll. I’m humbled in an ashamed way, but it was me who added his link in the first place. I’m just a mere subscriber to Otaku fanzine and an eager reader of his blog. (The blog is only in Finnish, though.) He’s an awesome writer, yes.

This is my first post in a blog which is hosted on my own site. Also, this is an attempt to get to the general feeling of my blog. It’s been my dream to get a self-hosted journal, I got some hopeless tries around 2002-2003 at geocities. But I’ve been a “regular” blogger at LiveJournal since 2004.

My dear kromisto.NET, I finally got you back and to normal state at 31.12, what a climaxfull way to end a year. For those who don’t know, I changed my webhost for various reasons. Then I installed WordPress on my server and while looking at it, the update system is really nice. Well, to say it straight I think this thing is freaking brilliant. I respect the whole automatic thing, and yes, I still were (am) a person who manually edits every page in HTML. Trying to lose my old habit, yes. It’s so untrendy.

I’m not a good writer, but I try to improve. My English skills suck, since I speak Finnish as my native. I have no clue that will someone even read this; I’m quite aware of the huge number of anime -related blogs. ..And also the great number of other blogs.

To say a word or two about myself for the new readers. I’m a 20-year-old girl from Finland. I’m a semi-figurine hobbyist and sort of a semi-otaku. I tend to draw much and also plan to attend an art school in the near future. I enjoy reading all sort of comics (marvel to manga) and building papercrafts every now and then. I’m a friendly soul, so don’t hesitate to contact or comment me.
